From Chris One of Mum’s favorite Author was Jane Austen who said “I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading. How much sooner one tires of anything other than off a book.” Indeed Mum was an avid reader. Reading books and the guardian every day up until her early 90’s. She was a constant in my life and I will and do miss her. I am very proud of how mum brought up a family of three children worked as a teacher and social worker and also cared for her mother and her husband Bill in later life. She was also part of the code breaking effort at Bletchley during the war. Mum had a lively intellect and I enjoyed the discussions we had on a range of topics as well as her sense of humour. She was amused to be nicknamed “The chocolate Assassin” in that she would kill for a piece of chocolate! Although no longer here she will live on in my memories and my love for her.
